I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Designer Cottage, especially the delightful communal breakfast where I connected with other travelers and the hosts, Chet and Steve. Their hospitality was exceptional, making me feel right at home in this charming setting.

I was disappointed with the cramped bathroom, which was hardly sufficient for two people. The bed was uncomfortably hard, making it difficult to rest well each night. Also, the communal kitchen area felt overcrowded during peak breakfast hours, leading to long waits and limited access to the cooking facilities.

Communal kitchen felt crowded at times. The homemade breakfast with fresh raspberries from the garden impressed me immensely.

The cottage was a lovely and cozy place with a warm welcome. I particularly enjoyed the delicious breakfast spread featuring various jams, fresh fruits, and a selection of cereals. It's conveniently located, allowing for easy walks into the city center and quick access to attractions like the Canterbury Museum and Christchurch Cathedral. A highlight was the comforting atmosphere provided by the common areas and the chance to relax with fellow travelers. I'd definitely return in the future.

The bathroom layout was peculiar, with the toilet snugly fitted next to the shower cubicle, limiting space. There was only one nightstand in the double room, making it a bit awkward for both travelers to access personal items. The room itself was darker than I prefer, which could be a drawback for those who enjoy well-lit spaces.

We loved every moment spent with our hosts who were welcoming and gave great advice on where to explore. The kitchen area was so well kitted out, it felt like home, but the real treat was the breakfast served with freshly picked raspberries from their garden,, delicious!

It wasn't cheap, but considering the experience, it was acceptable.

Had a fantastic stay with friends! Chet was super welcoming and gave us solid recommendations for sightseeing and dining. We enjoyed some cozy downtime, thanks to our room's club chair and writing desk. Plus, the short 5-min walk to the lookout was a bonus. Breakfast was a spread of fresh fruits, cereals, and coffee – perfect for fueling our adventures.

Only downside was that I needed laundry while there, but the service is not a laundromat, so plan for a bit of wait to get it back.
